Back to the Desert Horse Review
He Who Loves His Mare and Treats Her Kindly
by Coreada Kelly

Angelss sands on which pharaohs walked
Drift in the winds of another time.
They shift around her flinty hooves
As if she springs from the golden grains themselves,
Born of an ancient heritage of life.
The Nile was her cradle.
She nursed the breast of the Sphinx
And grew tall and proud in the shadows of the pyramids.
Drinker of the wind!
Her bronze eyes see through the night
Into the dreams of thew orld.
The black silk of her coat gleams in the moonlight
As she pauses on the edge of eternity
And her soul, her soul
Radiates a brilliance unrivaled by moon or star.
She is as immortal as the desert which gave her birth,
And her blood is water of life.
